Account overview
You will receive several personal identifiers and accounts, each enabling you to do different things.
Here is a brief overview:
- student number
- Is a 7-digit running number (e.g.,
7012345) - Is needed for exams, tuition fees, etc.
- Is assigned to you when you start studying by the University
- Can be found on your student ID

- STiNE account (also "UHH account"/"B-account"/"User account")
- Consists of three letters (the first is a "B" which stands for "Benutzer" – German for "user") and four digits (e.g.,
BAM1234) - Is required for accessing STiNE, WiFi (
eduroam), Moodle, and your university e-mail address - Your university e-mail address will look something like this:

- Consists of three letters (the first is a "B" which stands for "Benutzer" – German for "user") and four digits (e.g.,
- iRZ account (also "Informatics account")
- Consists of a digit (last digit of the year you started at UHH, 5 ≙ 2025) and the first seven letters of your last name (e.g.,
5surname).
In case of collisions, your account name might additionally contain letters of your first name. - Is required to access the computers at the Informatikum and to create an account for mafiasi.de (see below)
