Surfmail
If you attend your OU, you can quickly skim through or skip this page, as we will thoroughly go through these steps together during the OU.
As mentioned in the account overview, you will receive an e-mail account when starting your studies at the UHH.
To log in to your university e-mail account, use your STiNE credentials. Your UHH e-mail address is going to look something like firstname.lastname@studium.uni-hamburg.de.
In the background, an alias for this address containing your STiNE account name (e.g., bam1234@studium.uni-hamburg.de) exists, which you should never(!) use to send e-mails.
After you have activated your STiNE account, you should be able to log in to surfmail.rrz.uni-hamburg.de using your STiNE credentials. In case this does not work after multiple attempts, you should better ask the RRZ-Serviceline for help, as your account will get blocked after a certain number of failed login attempts!
E-Mail forwarding and clients
As mentioned on the previous page, you should ensure you receive your STiNE messages via e-mail. Furthermore, you should ensure you get notified whenever you receive messages in your university e-mail account. We strongly advise you not to forward your university e-mails to your private E-Mail account for data protection reasons!
Instead, we recommend you install and add your university e-mail account to an e-mail client on your most-used devices like your personal computer or smartphone. To set this up, simply follow the respective RRZ set up guide.
